Sound doesn't cut out, nor do I get any errors regarding sound drivers, so it is hard to believe that the drivers are outdated. I am still leaning towards the CPU of the motherboard as the problem, mainly because both motherboards had issues with freezing and I didn't get the chance to replace the CPU, just the motherboard. A identical motherboard, the older one, and CPU was tested and it had no issues whatsoever.
I am believing that I now had a faulty CPU and faulty Motherboard instead of just a faulty motherboard back then. As for the RAM, I didn't actually think it was the problem, but I never tested it because it seemed to work optimally every time. Despite my thoughts, I decided to list it as one of the possible issues all because it hadn't been thoroughly tested. As for your vid drivers, just go to ati. CPU's rarely exhibit symptoms of failure and the common denominator between this mobo and the original is the ram and cpu.
My money is on the ram being the issue or another faulty mobo but most likely the ram. If the RAM truly was the issue, I wouldn't have been able to run The Elder Scrolls IV, or Starcraft 2 on my computer without it freezing, yet I have had them both run for nearly 24 hours straight with no slowdowns, no errors, and no freezes.
Considering that the 2GB stick of RAM was the only stick of RAM in my computer, wouldn't the computer have problems starting up if it was faulty or would the page filing counter this? Iguess the only way to find out is to stress test the system and monitor the cpu outputs? Expensive I know, but if you have tried everything else, strange though it seems could well be the only way. I don't know what pulled it. It might have been Vista being Vista and possibly has nothing to do with the freezes at all, but who knows?
I plan on replacing this computer within 5 months, but I also wanted to fix the problem with this one so I actually had two of my very own computers. CPU Stress test.
Could be the slot itself Tx, but if it was the slot, with 2 sticks in, would it still see the working slot? I cannot run the memtest seeing as I have no CD's to put it on. So no, I did not run it.
I found three just now. I will have to get around to the memtest soon. Tx -- I have tried the 2GB stick in each yellow slot.
Then I tried it in each yellow slot with both sticks of MB in the black ones. Then I tried it without the 2GB stick in there at all. All three of these resulted in what usually happens, which is the freezing.
Core usually runs below 20 celsius constantly I will have to check the temps when I am done with Burn In. How many tests do you think people should go for? Test number Temps won't change. I'm closing it and getting some sleep.
The temperatures will not get any higher than this. Burn In is causing my computer to lock up for about 5 seconds every 30 seconds or so. It also locks up for about a second every couple seconds or so. I have gotten up to Test number 52 and the temperatures aren't changing, so I guess it is safe to assume this isn't going to change much. As for the RAM slots overheating I really doubt it. They are running colder than 25 celsius constantly.
The only thing cooler is the Core, which is currently running at 12 celsius and drops to around 10 celsius every once in awhile. Not all cores need to be put under constant stress in order to make them freeze up.
If it pulls more information in than it can send out, then it will eventually freeze. That doesn't mean it is under stress. I am going to throw out this idea Maybe something in my computer isn't getting enough Voltage? I mean, it shows one core getting 1.
I can see why they are different voltages, but wouldn't that cause problems if they both were running and one expected the other to keep up or stay around the same speed? Or maybe the Voltage is plain out too low. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. It's easy! The only fix is hard restarting the PC. Ive done a good amount of troubleshooting with no success. Im hoping someone on here can help me out. The PC works completely fine browsing the web, playing games, and downloading smaller sized files. Ive only seen this issue occur when downloading games that take a good amount of space on any platform Epic Games, Steam, etc.
Windows is running the latest 20H2 version. Ive tried downloading games in safe mode with networking and it also failed. Whats weird is that I ran an HP system test that tests all the components of the PC and it passed a quick and extensive tests.
Not sure if that test is accurate enough and if I should be doing further testing, but now I can only think its hardware related since it failed to download in safe mode. Would love any assistance as this is disappointing as I just got this PC recently. The only thing thats been changed is that I upgraded the PC with a Noctua air cooler and a few news fans. Thank you guys in advance for any help.

I also tried copying all of the doom files of her pc to my pc - but doom ALWAYS fails to start up, stating something with "files corrupted". I tried recopying files, but also to no avail. I also tried to fix this the Steam-way, i. It ran through, downloading at least a dozen GB of data and magically running through without crashing
